The Encounter series rods are exempt from Orvis standard 25-year guarantee, but do come with a limited warranty against defects in the original workmanship. If, by any means, the rod is deemed defective by the Orivs Rod Shop, Orvis will be happy to replace it.

The 9′ 5-weight Encounter rod outfit is easily the best value-priced outfit of its kind. This is the perfect backup for an experienced traveling angler or for a new angler who plans to spend most of their time on bigger trout waters.
The #5 weight is generally the one that you will find in SA shops although it does come in other weights.
