RIO’s Brand Manager Simon Gawesworth was invited by the Jacaranda Fly Fishing Club, in Pretoria South Africa to do a presentation on RIO new SlickCast technology and the different fly line tapers. Simon unravels, what some may find a mystery, behind the different fly line taper design and their applications. He breaks down the specific uses for each taper and discusses line weights vs rod weights. He tackles some interesting questions on line weights, line care, and then finishes with the low-down on RIO’s new SLICKCAST Technology and what makes it SOO GOOD. This next episode of our Never Stop Xplorering series takes us to another local favorite water in Northern Zululand, Pongolapoort Dam. Bordering Swaziland on one side, it is also known as Jozini Dam and is home to a local species of Tigerfish. Our target species on this trip. These local Tigerfish don’t get as big as the tigers in our neighboring countries but they are still fun to target on lighter 7wt rods and surface flies.
